SEASON CALENDAR
Final Poster Design
In my Season Calendar project, I aimed to combine type and imagery, crafting a visually outstanding and informative design. Using InDesign, I created a large event calendar (18 inches x 24 inches), incorporating information and hand-drawn artwork inspired by the New York Botanical Garden. The goal was to achieve a harmonious balance between typography and imagery while maintaining a professional and engaging composition.
Design Process
Research and Inspiration: throughout the design process, I delved into Pinterest and conducted extensive research on the New York Botanical Garden, exploring the events they offered. This exploration included studying various types and imagery posters for inspiration, gathering insights, and collecting references to inform the creative direction of the Season Calendar
Content Gathering: Detailed information about Garden events was collected, ensuring clear and concise text to accompany the visual elements of the calendar.
Artwork Creation: Original hand-drawn artwork inspired by the New York Botanical Garden was created to complement the theme, adding a captivating and personalized background element to the calendar design.
Initial Design Iterations: Two initial versions of the calendar design were developed, allowing for experimentation with layout and composition to achieve the desired balance.
Feedback and Revision: Incorporating feedback from classmates, as well as professional designers such as my professor and an alumni member, I revised to enhance readability and visual appeal. This included adjusting typography and artwork placement as needed.
Final Design: The polished Season Calendar design was presented, focusing on simplicity and professionalism in wording and layout to create an engaging user experience.
